My 2024 Reading Challenges

Every year, we share a huge Round Up of Reading Challenges, but it typically takes me a month or 2 to figure it which year long reading challenges I’m going to be participating it. This year, I’m focusing on 4 and I’ll also share below how I keep track of my progress.

The 2024 Reading Challenges I’m Doing

one+ Key Word. Since we host this here at Chapter Adventure, of course I’m participating in it. Read a book each month with one (or more) of the key words in the title. I’m checking in every month in our Goodreads group and I’ve read a book for each prompt to date.

two+ Motif. This is the other reading challenge we host. Read one book that fits the motif (theme) for the month. I’m also checking in with this in our Goodreads group and I’m up to date having read a book for each month so far.

three+ A to Z Book Titles 2024 Edition. This is hosted at Storygraph (see The 40 Most Popular 2024 Reading Challenges on StoryGraph) although there are several versions of this type of challenge. Your task is simple. Read through the alphabet. For this one, my challenge is just to see how far I get, not necessarily to get all the letters. So far I have 12/26.

four+ Scavenger Hunt TBR Book Challenge. All of the prompts are connected. The book for one prompt will later be used for the next prompt. This is the challenge I haven’t devoted much time to yet, but I absolutely love the prompts that lead you from one book to another. Right now, I finished book 3 and have just selected my 4th book for the challenge – which had to be written by an author with the name “Harriett.”

Tracking Reading Challenge Progress

storygraph

This year I started using Storygraph to track the progress of my reading challenges. I sign up for the reading challenges at that site, and then add add the books to each challenge prompt as I finish reading them. I like that not only can you see the books you read for each challenge in one place, but you can also easily see books other users added if you’re looking for ideas for what to read.

How I Tracks Books I Want to Read for Challenges

I’m keeping it simple with a page dedicated in my planner titled “Books”. For each month, I put the books I want to read with the Key Word and Monthly Motif challenges being my “must read” for that month. For the other challenges, I check in on every other month or so with the idea to ramp up starting about mid-year.

Are you participating in any year long reading challenges? I also participate in a few month-long (and a few seasonal reading challenges throughout the year.

  1. I’ve got key word and motif challenges up on Storygraph so you can link your books to the challenges there too. The scavenger hunt challenge looks fun and so creative!
