Off the Books February 2025

February 28, 2025

Kim here! We’re going “Off the Books” for month end to share a look at what I’ve been up to this month (besides reading), and we’re doing it 5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 style.

5 Joys This February

  • Meeting friends for Sunday Brunch to enjoy a yummy breakfast and just chat. It’s the perfect reset to the week.
  • Fixing up our trailer. We recently bought a cute, used Rpod travel trailer. This month we brought it home and I’m already scheming about how to fix it up and make it cute.
  • Puzzles! everyday. I buy a few new puzzles every year and this year was no different. Most of my favorite puzzles are Gallison brand. This Season’s Reading puzzle was one of my picks but in February I finished the Purrrfect Nook puzzle which turned out to be just the right mix of challenge and fun.
  • Seeing signs of Spring my Crocus’s pop up every February and it gives me that tiny little push to get through the last bits of winter. I’ve been planning our garden for next year and am looking forward to planting some peas, spinach, and a couple of other cold hardy plants next week.
  • Entertainment TV. This month I watched the Grammy’s, BAFTA, NAACP awards, and SAG awards. And I really enjoyed watching Kendrik Lamar’s halftime show, although I don’t care about football at all.

4 Favorite Products & Apps That I Used

  • I’m still addicted to Wordle, Connections, and Strands from the New York Times. But lately I’ve also been hooked on escape room puzzle games. The one I’ve been playing the most is the 101 Room Escape Game.
  • I’m not a big wine drinker but I recently tried this Lemonade Moscato and as soon as the bottle was gone, we bought another one.
  • I’ve been making a ton of videos and interactive lessons for the classes that I teach lately. My favorite tools to use are Canva, Adobe Premiere Rush, and Screenpal.
  • For books I’ve mostly switched to Storygraph and I really like the data that I can pull from it on my reading habits.

3 TV Shows and Movies I Watched This Month

  • The Penguin. We started watching this after I’d seen some positive reviews of it. Collin Farrell really is quite brilliant as the Penguin. ★★★★
  • Abbot Elementary. I know I’m late to the party on this one but I finally decided to give it a try. The characters are just so easy to love. They’re funny, good natured, and you can’t help but root for them. ★★★
  • The Night Agent. I binged this series when it first came out. When I saw there was a season 2 I watched it again, this time with my husband. Honestly, I just love dangerous, fast-paced shows. This one fit the bill and zero lag to it. Every episode was a gut punch. ★★★★

2 Recipes I Loved

  • Chocolate Cookie Bars – I have finally found the ultimate cookie bar recipe. These came out perfect with a brownie like texture. I like to make them with a mix of chocolate chips and peanut butter chips.
  • Shepherd’s Pie – I love mashed potatoes served in any fashion but there’s just something so comforting about shepherd’s pie. It’s one of my favorite meals.

1 Thing I Removed From My Life

Unrealistic expectations. If everything could run on my timeline that would be great. But the world doesn’t work that way and I’ve been trying to increase my flexibility. I don’t want to say I’ve lowered my expectations, but I’ve recognized that I’m a go! go! go! person, and not everyone else can be that way. I’ve gotta make that work for me too.

Now on to the next month! What was a highlight from your February?!

— xoxo
