Off the Books 2024 Week 30

We’re going “Off the Books” this week, and I’m sharing what I’ve been up to over recently (since my last check-in). 5 pictures from my camera phone!

one+ (Updating the look of my devices) I realized I hadn’t changed my desktop wallpaper in a few months, so went to my favorite source – Smashing Magazine – and switched it up on my personal and work laptops plus my phone. I went with fun images. How often do you change out the look of your devices?

two+ (The weekends) The beach may be my happy place, but being poolside is a close second. Where is your favorite place? The past 2 weekends have involved hanging out at a friend’s pool and bad karaoke – none of us can sing.

three+ (The view) Last week I worked in Chicago, on the 74th floor of one of the tallest buildings in the city. The view is absolutely stunning. I’ll never get over it. If you’re ever in Chicago, go on the architecture boat tour. The history of the buildings around the city is fascinating. Also, luckily I didn’t fly on the day that CrowdStrike’s faulty update crashed 8.5 million Windows devices which caused lots of delays.

four+ (The food) I continued trying new restaurants and adding reviews to Yelp. From Chicago, a dumpling spot called Jiao by Qing Xiang Yuan – good for lunch (4/5) and Lou Malnati’s (the one on Michigan Avenue). The pizza is SOOOO good (5/5). I’m lactose intolerant so I went armed with Lactaid pills (many) – sooo worth it!

five+ (Visitors) My brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew are visiting this week and I took the littles to mini-golf for one of their adventures. They leave on Saturday so I’m gearing up to spend the weekend being boring and loving it – cleaning, reading and relaxing.

— Cheers to the weekend and the week ahead!

  1. My daughter lives in Chicago and took me on that boat tour. I agree, it was great.

  2. Wow. That view is spectacular! I was very glad I wasn’t working the day of the CrowdStrike fiasco.
