Every year, we share a huge Round Up of Reading Challenges and The Most Popular 2025 Reading Challenges on StoryGraph and then it takes me a few weeks to decide which ones I want to do. I’m not a fast reader, so if I want to finish them, I can’t do too many! Here’s a look at the year long reading challenges I’ll be doing in 2025.
one. The 2025 Key Word Reading Challenge
Read a book each month with one (or more) of the key words in the title. Since we host this here at Chapter Adventure, of course I’m participating in it. I’m checking in every month in our Goodreads group and at Storygraph. I did this last year as well, and it was the first time I actually finished every month. I will say that I don’t always read the book in the same month – I may finish it the next month, or even start it later, but my challenge is just to get it done!
two. The 2025 Motif Reading Challenge
Read one book that fits the motif (theme) for the month. This is the other reading challenge we host. I’m also checking in with this in our Goodreads group and at Storygraph. And again, I did this last year and it was also the first year that I completed it.
three. Finish the Sentence
Finish the sentence with a book title. This is the first time I’m doing this one, and it looks like a lot of fun. There are 18 challenge prompts.
four. 2025 Alphabet
Read a book that starts with the letter… I did a similar challenge last year (just hosted by someone else), and finished it, so I’m doing it again – let’s see if I can get all the letters this year too.
five. Cover Scavenger Hunt
Read a book which features each of the following objects/elements on the cover. This is a new to me challenge, and my goal for this one is to see how many of the 25 I can get. The rules are flexible and a book can count towards more than one prompt. It’s also not set up as a “yearly” challenge, but I’m going to treat it as such.
six. Picture Prompt Book Bingo Challenge
Match up books that you’ve read with pictures on the bingo card. The key thing being that you can be as creative in your interpretation of the picture as you like. This will be my first time doing this challenge, but I love that you can interpret the prompts as creatively as you like.
So 6 reading challenges for me this year – last year I did 4 (here’s A Look at My Reading Year and Reading Challenges [The 2024 Edition]). Are you participating in any year long reading challenges this year?
