Bookmarked 2025 Week 8

February 23, 2025

How has your week been? What have you been reading lately? This is coming to you a little late because for the past week I’ve had early mornings and late nights at work, so haven’t done much else, including read. But I am in the middle of 3 exquisite novels, so now on to the 10+ bookish links I bookmarked recently, so I can spend the rest of the day reading.

one+ I didn’t know you could download the eBooks you buy on Amazon – you can – but Next week, Amazon is stripping away your ability to download your ebooks. So hurry up and download your library if you want to truly own them yourself. Here’s how to download eBooks from your Kindle. “Should you want to transfer your titles from your Kindle to your computer while you still can, go to Amazon.com, sign in, and click Accounts & Lists > Content Library > Books. Navigate to the book you want to download and click More actions > Download & transfer via USB.

two+ A really cool article on How to Use Reading Appeal Factors to Find More Five-Star Books which breaks down not only how to think through finding books that will appel to us, but what questions to ask to be able to make good recommendations.

three+ As I’ve mentioned before, this month, I’m reading books by Black authors. Some new books I’ve added to my reading list are from 25 Must-Read Books by Black Authors for Your 2025 TBR. Also interesting reading is Forgotten Trailblazers of Black Literature and 7 Thrilling Tales That Upturn What We Know about Black History. I’m particularly looking forward to the new book from S.A. Crosby, King of Ashes.

four+ This Year’s Slate of Summer Scares Selections has been announced. Every year, three titles are selected in each of three categories: Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade. The Adult selections this year are Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke and Other Misfortunes, Eric LaRoccaThe Luminous Dead, Caitlin Starling and Repreive, James Han Mattson. I’m going to try to read at lwast one of the titles during this year.

five+ Reading through The benefits of reading widely vs. reading more genre-specific, I could definitely relate. While I read a variety of genres, there are times when I will read the same genre for months because nothing else interests me, or I will just read book after book after book in a long series before coming up for air and moving on to something else. I attribute it to being a “mood” reader.

six+ If you’re looking for an alternative to Goodreads here are five new reading tracker apps to try. So far I’m sticking with Goodreads and The StoryGraph. What are you using?

seven+ AI-Generated Slop Is Already In Your Public Library. Those are books that are generated by AI with fake author profiles to match.

eight+ Oprah announced her March 2025 Book Club selection, Dream State, Eric Puchner.

nine+ What have you read lately that you would add to Books that DELIVERED all the emotions?

ten+ Which book series release in 2025 are you most looking forward to? Are any of them on this list -> Get Excited for These Recent and Upcoming Sequels, Prequels, and Series Continuations? I am most looking forward to the continuation of the Cormoran Strike series with the release of The Hallmarked Man in September.
