Bookmarked 2025 Week 15

April 14, 2025

How has your week been? What have you been reading lately? This edition is coming to you really late, with the weekend practically over, but I hate to miss publishing this weekly bookmarked series – better late than never! This week I finished reading Onyx Storm (Empyrean #3), Rebecca Yarros, and well – it took me a while to get into it, and at first, I didn’t think I would like it as much as the hype would dictate, but I got more and more into it, and it ended up being pretty decent. This is one series that’s definitely better if read in order … Now on to the 10+ bookish links I bookmarked recently.

one+ On my travels, I love seeing the Blind Date Books – where they are wrapped up with only a description, so you don’t know the title. Have you ever bought one of these? I’m going to get one next time I see it somewhere.

two+ I’ve been watching a lot more on the screen than reading this past week or so, but there are so many delicious offerings on Goodreads Readers’ 84 Most Anticipated Books of Spring. Did you see there’s a new book by Fredrik Backman coming out?! And Freida McFadden!

three+ I’m trying not to be glued to the news 24×7 – it’s shit! But I love this reminder that Not All Heroes Wear Capes: 9 (Fiction) Books About Ordinary and Everyday Heroes. I added a few of these to my reading list.

four+ I also don’t know about these Subgenres I Did Not Know About. Have you come across any sub-genres recently in your reading that was new to you?

five+ Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd, and it’s a perfect time to read some of the 10 Works of Eco-Fiction Worth Celebrating or 9 Books That Will Make You Want To Go Outside And Touch Grass.

six+ Although I have lists upon lists of books to read, I have to agree that Convenience Plays a Large Role in What I Choose to Read. Sometimes, like this weekend, I’ll pick up whatever it’s handy instead of figuring out what to read from the too many book lists I already have.

seven+ I’ve been loving LitHub’s series Here’s everything that’s making us happy this week. Same. I find little joys every day, whether it’s gardening, spending time with a good book, or immersing myself in a new hobby.

eight+ How Quickly Do You Read New Purchases? There’s quite a few unread purchases on my shelf!

nine+ Here Are the Finalists for the 2025 Hugo Awards and the shortlist for this year’s International Booker Prize.

ten+ Off the Books … what have you been watching lately? I’ve gotten into a few tv series – Survival of the Thickest S2 (loved it as much as S1), The Residence (really enjoyed this too) and Yellowjackets S1 (it was just aaight for me).

In case you missed it, this week Kim shared an April Book Report [Travel Edition].

—- Cheers to the weekend and week ahead!
