Bookmarked 2025 Week 14

April 5, 2025

How has your week been? What have you been reading lately? I finished the AMAZING audiobook of The God of Good Looks, Breanne McIvor and narrated by Varia Williams and Alexis Rodney. The audiobook is the way to go with this one – I wanted to re-read it even more slowly when I was done. I also got through Once Was Willem, M.R. Carey which I also loved. March was a pretty good reading month! … Now on to the 10+ bookish links I bookmarked recently.

one+ NaNoWriMo is shutting down. This is the non-profit that’s behind the popular event where for a month you focus on writing a novel.

two+ National Library Week is April 6 – 12, 2025. Here are some tips on How to Support Your Local Library, although sadly, the staff of the Institute of Museum and Library Services has been placed on administrative leave as the US administration continues to work toward the elimination of the IMLS, the agency is responsible for distributing federal funding to libraries.

three+ The New Hunger Games Novel Sells More Than 1.5 million World English copies in it’s first week of sale, outdoing a number of the previous books in the series. Have you read it yet? I haven’t, but it’s on my reading list of course. Also, here’s 12 Readalikes for The Hunger Games (Recent YA Dystopian Books).

four+ Didya know about of BookTV, a television show on C-SPAN that is dedicated to nonfiction books? I found it thanks to Book’d Out.

five+ For us readers out there, the funny Reductress Book Club (IG) which is devoted to making jokes about books and reading culture. 🙂

six+ I don’t know but sometimes there’s such a thing as too many options, but 132 Page-Turner Books to Help You Beat Any Reading Slump seems like a lot until I realized it’s broken out by genre, so it turns out to be pretty useful. See anything on this list you would also recommend? I saved this for when the ineveitable slumpy time happens.

seven+ It was fun looking through From 1925 to 2024: 100 Years of Popular Books (on Goodreads) and seeing if I’d read the “popular” book for the year and if it something I’d want to read. Most of them I’d actually read and really enjoyed (from the more recent years).

eight+ I love looking at readers sharing their list of 5 Authors First, Last and Favorite – where they share the first, last and next book they’ll read from favorite authors.

nine+ Do you still buy print magazines? Here’s a recommendation for Eight print(!) magazines that should be on your radar.

ten+ The championship match of the 2025 Tournament of Books finished recently. It was James, Percival Everrett against Martyr!, Kaveh Akbar. Guess who won?! Go to the link to find out.

In case you missed it, this week I went Off the Books with a March recap, and we have the April 2025 Key Word Reading Challenge Check-In and April 2025 Motif Reading Challenge Check-In, plus Kim recently shared 3 Books that Scream Sunshine!

—- Cheers to the weekend and week ahead!
