Bookmarked 2024 Week 44

How has your week been? What have you been reading lately? I didn’t finish anything! I’m currently about halfway through The Ex Hex, Erin Sterling. It’s a cozy romantasy. Now, on to the 10+ things I bookmarked recently.

one+ And it’s onto another month! Hey November!! But before we move on … for October, we shared our love of #WickedGoodReads so please check out all the posts. I only read 3 of the 4 Books on My RIP XIX Challenge Reading List, but not to worry, I got in others that weren’t on the list, and I fully plan on completing the assignment.

two+ November is Native American Heritage Month in the U.S. and Goodreads shared 68 New Books to Read for Native American Heritage Month. And with a new month comes new books releases. LitHub shares AudioFile’s Best Audiobooks of November and there’s Barnes & Noble’s Best Books of November and December 2024. Which books are you looking forward to reading this month?

three+ One of my favorite “best books of the year” lists is out – Publisher’s Weekly Best Books of 2024. This is the 2nd list out in October (we mentioned last week the first one out the gate was from Barnes & Noble), and like that list, James, Percival Everett, is on the top 10 here. That’s probably about the only book out of the 150 on this list that I’ve read. How about you?

four+ Everand introduced a new subscription based model moving away from it’s previously unlimited only catalog of audiobooks, eBooks, magazines etc.. Now, you still have unlimited access to magazines, podcasts, and a select catalog of ebooks and audiobooks, but the new Standard plan ($11.99/mth) includes access to one premium title, and a Plus plan ($16.99/mth) unlocks access to 3. I don’t know how competitive this is when Kindle Unlimited is $11.99/mth and you get unlimited access to new titles as well.

five+ It’s election time in the US, and it’s been tense to say the least! You might need to escape with any of these 15 funny books for when you need some relief from a heavy world or The Funniest Science Fiction and Fantasy Books … or 7 of the Funniest Crime Novels Ever Written, to get some relief. I know I’ve needed a time out ever so often in the past few months.

six+ Novellas in November 2024 begins today! And it’s also Non-Fiction November and this week’s focus is My Year in Nonfiction. Of course, we can’t leave out #SciFiMonth2024 and they’re starting off with Astronavigation, which is a fancy way to say discuss the books that we are planning on reading this month.

seven+ I sadly might not get to any scifi this month because I’m in the middle of a few books that are slow reads, but as I’ve mentioned before, my favorite sub-genre of scifi is dystopian, and I would pick something from these lists of 13 Dystopian Novels Guaranteed to Make You Think and Top Dystopian Books: A List of Thought-Provoking New Books to read this month if I could.

seven+ This weekend, I’m doing my best to do nothing but read. I’m using this Cozy Reading Season Essentials as inspiration, adding some of my own, and have a weekend reading retreat in my own house.

eight+ With so much attention on AI these days, I wonder if there’s been a surge in reading fiction books on the subject – like these Six Sci-Fi Thrillers About AI. Anything is possible!

nine+ Off the Books – What are you watching this weekend? What’s the best tv show or movie you watched recently? I haven’t watched much lately, so I’m looking through the 39 Literary Movies and TV Shows to Watch This Fall and The Biggest Book-to-Screen Adaptations of 2024 to make my weekend watch list.

ten+ Also, now that Halloween is passed (like 1 day now) – is it too early for Christmas in the US? I’ve had a YEAR and I’m ready for the feel good vibes of the season, so I’m going to jump on Hallmark’s 2024 Countdown to Christmas Schedule.

—- Cheers to the weekend and week ahead!
