4 Upcoming New Releases I Couldn’t Resist Pre-Ordering

April 15, 2024

Good things are coming! There are some pretty fantastic books being released over the next few months that I’m really excited for! I’ve even pre-ordered a few, which I almost never do. Here’s what has caught my eye…

The Gathering, C.J. Tudor (April 9)

The Drift and The Burning Girls blew me away and made me an instant fan of Tudor. For mystery and horror lovers alike! I pre-ordered The Gathering as soon as I saw it was available.

A young boy is dead. Detective Barbara Atkins, a specialist in vampyr killings, is called to the small, Alaskan town to officially determine if this is a Colony killing—and authorize a cull. Determined to find the truth, she enlists the help of a former Deadhart sheriff, Jenson Tucker, whose investigation into the previous murder almost cost him his life. Since then, Tucker has become a recluse. But he knows the Colony better than almost anyone. As the pair delve into the town’s history, they uncover secrets darker than they could have imagined.

Ghost Station, S.A. Barnes (April 9)

Another pre-order for me! After finding myself completely sucked into the audiobook of Dead Silence, I knew I had to read more of this genre!! My two favorite things- space fiction & the paranormal.

Psychologist Dr. Ophelia Bray has dedicated her life to the study of ERS—a space-based condition that resulted in the brutal murders of twenty-nine people. She’s assigned to a small exploration crew. But as they begin to establish residency on an abandoned planet, it becomes clear that crew is hiding something. While Ophelia focuses on her new role, her crewmates are far more interested in unraveling the mystery behind the previous colonizer’s hasty departure than opening up to her. That is, until their pilot is discovered gruesomely murdered.

Middle of the Night, Riley Sager (June 18)

I’ve read all of Sager’s books and it’s really hard to pick a favorite. I really, really enjoyed his last novel The Only One Left. We’ll see if this newest release lives up to my expectations!

One July night, ten-year-old Ethan and his best friend and neighbor, Billy, fell asleep in a tent set up on a manicured lawn in a quiet, quaint New Jersey cul de sac. In the morning, Ethan woke up alone. During the night, someone had sliced the tent open with a knife and taken Billy. He was never seen again.

Thirty years later, plagued by bad dreams and insomnia, Ethan begins to notice strange things happening in the middle of the night. Someone seems to be roaming the cul de sac at odd hours, and signs of Billy’s presence keep appearing in Ethan’s backyard. Is someone playing a cruel prank? Or has Billy, long thought to be dead, somehow returned to Hemlock Circle?

The Midnight Feast, Lucy Foley (June 6)

Now, I’ll admit that I’ve only read one of Lucy Foley’s other books (The Guest List), but I saw some really convincing buzz about this book. Plus, I’m always a sucker for a locked room mystery.
